Roydon Church Concert

We played our Concert of Seasonal Guitar Music at St Remigius Church, Roydon yesterday afternoon.  It was very well received I believe and the audience particularly enjoyed the Christmas carols sing-along at the end.  Not standard fayre for a classical guitar concert I will grant you, but given it was mixed in with some beautiful (and complex) solo, duet and ensemble pieces I think overall the balance was about right.

We are hoping to arrange another concert for the first quarter of the New Year so I will keep you posted of developments…

Group lunch and AGM

Today we enjoyed a delightful meal at The Fleece Inn in Bungay (highly recommended – http://www.thefleeceinnbungay.co.uk).  Apart from it being a great social occasion we did mange to cover quite a lot of ground in terms of making decisions about how we are going to move forward over the coming months.  Lots of stuff to look forward to.  Please keep coming back got updates.

Diss Guitar Ensemble

Great rehearsal on Monday evening. I unfortunately arrived a little late but we had a really good second go at Joropo. We haven’t done any work on the Leichts Trio for a while but that was sounding really good considering when we last looked at it. We also rehearsed Snowflakes (Van Der Staak) which will be very appropriate for the coming seasons. In preparation for Christmas Rod handed out some carols which will be fun. Rod also informed the group that he is working on an arrangement for The Eagles ‘Desperado’ which was greeted with great enthusiasm.

Big welcome to Daniel, our new member. Great to have you on board!
